Someone in the LS tonight mentioned a rumor that Odin will be a new summon in the next FFXI expansion, Wings of the Goddess. No idea whether or not this is true, but it got me thinking...

Two things on this:
One: If Mateus becomes one of the elemental avatars, I'm going to write to Square, BEGGING them to go back and re-lock summoner on my account.

Two: What the fuck is Midgarsormr?

Well, pretty much all the summons have been rooted in one mythology or another, so while the Ivalice summons may be out of place in Vana'diel, they wouldn't be so as something they completely made up.

Midgardsormr is the Norse "World Serpent," who was so large he wrapped himself around the edge of the world.

Technically, it's another name for Jormundgand, but it was used as an earth-elemental summon in FF6. (In the FF3us, his name was changed to Terrato.)
