David Cook - Tulsa - 04/25/2009

So, I got a new camera for Valentine's Day and I've been dying to get it to a show like this and test it out and see what it can do. Luckily, the opportunity came up and we were able to go see David Cook in Tulsa with a friend. It was epic basically, we were almost barricade (second person back) and I have to say my camera kept up with me pretty well. I took over 200 shots of just David's set, plus 2 videos and my batteries didn't die once. YAY! I really could not wait to get these shots up so the videos will have to be edited in later. As it is, there are 119 shots of Cook (with lots of Tiemann and a little Skib... he came out blurry most times). I did some editing to these, but a couple are just SOOC, which is .. well I'm not sure what it's a testament to.

A few things of note...

    Regarding the show/trip:
  • I'll be honest, I doubted that David was going to be able to capture the feel of a small intimate show with his varied fanbase, even in a college setting, but he made me a believer. I don't think I've ever actually felt the intimacy or closeness (which had nothing to do with proximity) that I did at this show.
  • I have an untamed infatuation with Neal Tiemann... and this show/trip did not do anything but fan the flame. :/
  • This trip was amazing, I may not have gotten to say anything to David other than "thank you" when he autographed a picture I took of him at the Idol show in Tulsa last year (which .. in itself was a whole 'nother milestone, but we won't talk about that) but I'll always remember it and I got some great stories and met some really cool people.
  • Did I mention I met David Cook? It was awesome.. except the part where someone else took up my entire moment to continue to talk to David (even though she'd already had her turn and her moment) while I was standing right in front of him. Way to be greedy.
  • I think my friend frightened Kyle Peek to the point of almost wetting himself outside the buses and it remains one of my favorite memories of the entire trip. He. was. so. precious.
  • My favorite memory? Driving through the deserted streets of Tulsa at 2 in the morning calling for Neal to come out and play with my friends.
  • I really hope that I get the chance to do something like this again... soon.

    Regarding the pictures themselves:
  • I could NOT get any of Kyle Peek because basically he was behind David and I was pretty much dead center (which is why my Andy shots also suck for the most part).
  • I have an untamed infatuation with Neal Tiemann, I'm pretty sure this came across in picture form.
  • These are all resized to 25% of the original size. I'll probably be posting the larger ones on flickr, eventually. They are also watermarked, just my email in an unobtrusive spot just for my own peace of mind.
  • I'm cool with reposting and using these for graphics, just asking credit for the shots. I take a lot of pride in my concert shots, especially these.
  • These are public and like I said I don't mind anyone using these for graphics or reposting these whatever, but please don't hotlink them. They're on my own personal domain. Feel free to send your friends to this entry, like I said, this one's public.
