Fic: Unthinkable?

Jul 06, 2008 13:16

Everyone’s gone, now. It’s quiet, so quiet. The Doctor faces the empty Tardis and only wishes it were for the first time.

Sarah Jane was right. He might be lonely, but he’s not alone. When it counts - when it really counts - he can call on some of the best, most brilliant people in the world. Today, if nothing else, has taught him that. But what of ( Read more... )

See there is this rather large part of me that would kill to see Jack and Ianto travel with the Doctor. That would so totally rock.

I know! Me, too. But I think you'll have to get someone smarter than me to write it. Although now you mention it, I have been looking for a project to work on once the schools finish ...

See, this is what gets me into trouble with fanfic. I write these open-ended non-endings because I'm crap at endings, and then people ask for sequels, and then I want to write the sequels, and the sequels don't go as well as I'd hoped, and ... big trouble.

It would be nice, though, wouldn't it? (I'm doomed!)

Don't worry, hon. Most writers suck at something - me? I suck at endings as well.

A sequel would be fun. Be nice to see the Doctor's reaction to all things T3.

My utter crappiness at endings might be something of a vicious circle - I hate them, so I never write them, so I never get any practice at them, so I'm rubbish at them, so I hate them, so I never write them ... and so on.

Like I say. Schools break up in a fortnight - I might be in the market for a longer project ...

Oh I like this . . . I think Ianto and Jack traveling with the Doctor is one of my biggest fangirl oooooooooohhhhhhhssssss (and NOT just because it means jb/gdl/dt in a small blue box!) The personality dynamics are so wonderful it would be a true character study.

Oh I do hope you write more :-)

Oh, I know! I think I would agree to losing whole years from my life to see that. Oh, and it's totally got nothing to do with seeing those three in a tight space. No, sir.

It's funny, I didn't have that in my mind when I wrote this at all until the very last sentence. All I wanted to do was explain why Jack travelling with the Doctor was a total non-option now, and also why Jack had been so well-behaved. But now the plot bunnies start to nibble ...

Oh, twist my arm. I'll think about it ;)

go on then - write the sequel - you KNOW you want to (grin)

We all do seem to a bit dissapointed in the lack of 2 return to the Hub don't we? I guess it came down to running time - they already had 65 minutes after all. And they'd SHOWN that all three Torchwood people knew each other had survived, so....shrug.

that said, after the nod to "the Unquiet Dead", I wouldn't have minded a quick "who's he - he seems familiar" from the Doctor (on the grounds that they might just have seen each at Torchwood Tower!)

The trouble is, I know me. It won't be a sequel. It'll be eighteen sequels and will probably take me six months to write.

I second your shrug. I can live with not seeing the reunion, I suppose, given that all three survived and will definitely be reunited. And it gives us a lot of fic opportunities.

The issue with Ianto and the Doctor crossing paths is intriguing and also creates opportunities ... wow, these bunnies just keep multiplying, don't they?

Thanks! I was set to resist any pressure to write a sequel, but if you guys twist my arm any further my clothes will need altering.

I'm thinking about it ... deeply!
