Because I didn't hate everything about it, I was just
painfully disappointed over its message and the way it contrasted with AtLA's message on a fundamental level.
So here's what I thought was good:

Still, she has a name, she's not a missing/dead mother, she isn't angelized like Kya and Ursa were, and her portrayal as a flustered mom of rambunctious children struck very close to home for me. I almost never see decent portrayals of realistic, human mothers in the shows I watch so I appreciated her for that.

And HELL YEAH MECHA! As a fan of the Badass Normal I loved how the non-bending Equalists kicked bender ass all over the place. Always good to see the supernaturals being taken down a peg or ten.
I like the idea of pro-bending as an underground sport, and I'll bet you anything the bender gangs still have big stakes in the sport.
