I love this, and it made my rec list and rightly so!!! This is such a wonderfully bittersweet Mary POV. You really explored her struggle to maintain both a 'normal' family life with a hunters life. *round of applause*

Thank you so much for this comment! And for putting the story on your rec list! *blushing* I really loved writing this and getting into Mary's head -- she's a challenging character, for sure!

Great insight into Mary. I've always wondered what she told John the night her parents died, how she explained away her 'father's' strange, violent behavior. I really like your take on it, it makes sense.

It was interesting to see her struggle with motherhood, how she wasn't good at being a housewife because all she'd been taught growing up was how to kill monsters. (And just as an aside, I found it funny that she was feeding Cheerios to baby Sammy--I don't know if that was intentional on your part or not, but I'd never feed Cheerios to a six month-old baby, it's a bit of a choking hazard. I'm sure some mothers do it, but yeah, I don't think it's appropriate at that stage in a baby's development.)

Very well written, and tragic too. I loved it.

Thank you! Yeah, I always wondered how Mary explained away so much about her parents and her past. I mean, John loved her so he overlooked a lot of weirdness, plus he trusted her so he believed anything she told him. But poor John! Makes me like him more, I guess :)

And please accept my apologies--I think you're a mother yourself? I didn't mean to maybe unknowingly critize your choice of baby snacks. I tend to put my foot in my mouth a lot.
