For Those in Peril on the Sea! Convoy Rescue Ship Copeland and HMS Britomart picking up survivors while the convoy is under Air Attack. Loosely based on convoy PQ 18.
Work in progress. 'Minesweepers' Where?
Paddle minesweepers from the 8th Flotilla at Granton, pass through the boom off Inchkeith to sweep the channel out to the North Sea.
A bit more peacefull than more recent paintings of mine. Another view of Muckle Flugga, I think it's the most northerly point in UK.
Based on Convoy PQ18.
Quickie of two Sea Venoms. Always had a soft spot for them and the Sea Hawk, they were the first types I worked with on my first Carrier HMS Eagle.

Paddle Mine sweeper HMS 'Oriole' ex Eagle 3, ashore at Dunkirk. She made 4 trips and is officially credited with saving 2,587 men.

Sir Winston Churchill once described the convoys to the northern Russian ports as 'The worst journey on Earth' this is one of the reasons why.
This is HMS Bonaventue, mother ship to the X Craft, at the start of the Tirpitz raid with one of the Submarines which towed the X Craft across the North Sea.
HMS Fencer and HMS Icarus turn out of the convoy into wind to launch a Swordfish AS patrol.
This is an idea for an incident at Aultbea on Loch Ewe when a lone Ju88 made a Hit and Run raid on the Anchorage.

Now the Wormit Yacht Club, this used to be RAF WOODHAVEN, the white cross at the door of the building is a memorial to the Royal Norwegean Air Force personel who operated Flying Boats from Woodhaven Duting WW2.
