also, as far as stopping smoking, i kinda know how hard it is... my dad has stopped and started a bunch of times... i think the idea is to cut back... if you're smoking a pack a day, cut back a but, then from that point cut back some more... it'll definitely take you time, but it's a more permanent way of quitting... generally dad only smokes cigars now and from what i can tell he doesn't smoke them as often as he smoked the cigarettes...

also also, one of the things that helped him is to find something else to do... so now he chews gum... a LOT of gum... and it's not even the nicotine gum, it's just regular gum like you buy at the grocery store... but he'll chew a piece and when he's done with it, immediately switch it for a new piece and he says it helps him... so we keep buying gum :-)

Thank you for the suggestions. I definitely know how beneficial it is to cut back first... Which right now I barely smoke six cigarettes a day!!! Actually to be honest, I think I've been at this level for over two years now.

As far as the chewing gum, yep knew that one too ;D I can't chew gum personally, as it really REALLY hurts my jaw. I am still looking for something of its equivalent.

yay for progress then! :-) maybe now you should cut back to 4 or 5... baby steps you know :-)

maybe hard candy? i personally love the wintogreen lifesavers... you can buy them in a large bag and they're individually packaged

Hey, that's a pretty decent idea! I have a couple hard candies, well they're more like cough drops, that I love sucking on. I might have to give this a try! Thanks!
