Story: Reid left after he quit his job and saw Luke with Noah. They meet in New York. Reid has appologised. Luke is forgiving.

Luke had gone to dinner with Reid at least four times a week over the last month. Every time Reid was the perfect gentleman, meeting Luke at the coffeehouse or a restaurant. He always made sure that Luke got home safely by putting him in a cab, or more often, walking him back to his apartment building. Before Reid left to go home, he would put his hand on Luke’s cheek while gently placing a small kiss on the other, then whispering good night.

Tonight was the first time Reid was invited to Luke’s apartment. Luke had asked Reid to meet him there before they went to dinner, but he hadn’t told Reid that he planned to make the meal himself.

Luke had needed this month to be sure. In Oakdale, he knew he wanted to be with Reid, but after the “mistake,” as they were now calling the break-up, he was wary. He needed to know that Reid was not going to play the “I love you today, but maybe I will leave you tomorrow” game that he let himself get used to in his relationship with Noah. In Oakdale, it seemed like everyone jumped in and out of relationships.

Luke had never understood that. He could be angry with Noah, a friend or a relative, but it never came to the point where he would just give up on them. With Noah, he still tried to give their relationship a chance whenever they had problems. But after Noah pushed him away so many times, Luke gave Noah a choice, "Do you want to be in a relationship with me or not?"

After just two weeks of seeing a therapist here in New York, Luke realized he was glad he had made Noah choose. If Noah wanted to be with him, he had to be certain. It only hurt for a short time that Noah decided he didn’t want to be with Luke anymore. Luke was surprised how quickly he felt relieved to be free of his relationship with Noah.

Tonight Luke wanted to let Reid make up his mind about being his boyfriend. If Reid said yes, he had to be all in, meaning he would come to Luke when he had doubts and not jump to conclusions. Luke was falling in love with Reid for who he was, so he didn’t need anything additional from Reid other than his loyalty.

The buzzer sounded, signaling Reid’s arrival. When Luke opened the door, he stepped back and laughed, as Reid walked in with a bunch of helium balloons. One was in the shape of a house, another carried the words, “Happy Housewarming” and a third said, “Welcome Home.”

"Hi. Since this is my first time here, I thought I should bring you something."

Luke was still laughing when they heard the oven bell go off. "Come in. I have to get that." Luke went into the kitchen.

"Nice place, but I thought we were going out?" Reid followed Luke as he eyed the oven dish that Luke placed on the already set table.

"I was hoping you would help me test this new recipe I found. Is that okay?" Luke pulled out a chair, nodding for Reid to take a seat. They talked about how their day went over the dinner that Luke had prepared. They worked together to clear the table before they sat down with mugs of coffee and slices of apple pie.

"Can I ask you something, Reid?" Luke looked down into his cup of coffee. "You said when we started hanging out that you would like to see us find a way back together, if it was something that I wanted. Can you still see us together? Do you still want that?"

"Yes." Reid lifted Luke’s chin to make sure he looked him in the eye. "But it’s your choice, Luke. I’ll always want to be with you."

When Luke looked into Reid’s eyes, he could see that Reid meant every word. Luke’s heart told him that he could trust this man, but his mind was still slightly nervous. "I’m a little scared. But I think we can be good together so I’d like to try. But I need you to be all in. When you have doubts or feel insecure, come talk to me. Don't run away from me before you hear my side. You hurt me before by leaving. Please don't leave me again without talking to me." Luke looked up at Reid, hoping he would understand.

"Luke, I was an idiot the day I walked away from you. I promise I’m never going to be that stupid again. It hurt me too because I missed out on being with you although I love my work here. It’s the most fun job I ever had. But I would have given it up if I knew you were waiting for me in Oakdale. I really thought I’d lost you, or I would never have left there. I want to be with you or “all in,” as you put it. You’d make me so happy if you would give us another try."

Luke smiled and said, "So let’s not make this complicated. We’re together." He leaned forward and began to kiss Reid. It started with a small kiss that surprised both of them, which led into a longer kiss that was slow and sweet. Reid opened his mouth to let Luke’s tongue in. When the kiss ended, they were both out of breath.

They just looked at each other. Reid had a big grin on his face. "You really are giving us a chance, right? I didn’t just fall asleep on your couch and am now in the middle of a nice dream?"

"No, you’re not dreaming, Reid. I want to be with you. Without stupid distractions and other people getting in the middle. Just you and me. And a lot of privacy."

Luke leaned in for more kisses that were no longer sweet and slow, but delivered with force and need. He pushed Reid down on the couch and started unbuttoning Reid’s shirt.

Reid had to know for sure, so he broke off the kiss. "Luke, are you sure you want this?" Luke just nodded and leaned down to start kissing Reid’s neck while he managed to finish unbuttoning the shirt.

"Do you want to see the rest of my apartment?" Luke whispered in Reid’s ear. Reid let out a groan and nodded. Luke took his hand and pulled him off the coach. Luke blushed as he entered his bedroom and sat down on the bed. "I want this, Reid. But it’s been a very long time for me."

Reid sat down next to Luke and stroked his upper arm. "We don’t have to do anything, Luke. I’m happy just kissing you. I could do this all night."

Luke pulled his sweater over his head and pushed Reid down on his back. "I need more than that, Reid."

It didn’t take much time before both pairs of pants were dropped onto the floor.

Two hours later, two grinning men, wearing only bathrobes, sat on the couch sharing apple pie while stealing kisses in-between bites.

They’d had a rocky beginning, but now their future looked bright.
