Goddamnit, i have managed to avoid venting my spleen about US politics on LiveJournal for a long time because, honestly, nothing has changed since this time 8 years ago, when almost half of country's voters got whipped up into an anti-immigrant frenzy and cast their ballot for a celebrity conman who has spent his entire, privileged, elite life

I subscribed to WaPo right after the 2016 election, but I canceled it last year. They didn't renew Radley Balko's contract and in his Substack he said they told him they were pulling back from coverage of wrongful convictions, police misconduct, and flaws in the justice system. Those things are hugely important to me, so fuck them.

I have never subscribed to the NYT because I'm old enough to remember how they pushed for the invasion of Iraq.
