Interesting, I hadn't heard of that holiday. I'll need to look that up.

Did I miss something, or can you not apply again? Is this your only chance to get the gold card?

Oh, i can apply again. Actually, i still have time to try to gather more information and resubmit. That's what got me to apply in the first place, even though i knew i perhaps didn't qualify exactly. Online people said they give you a few chances to approve your paperwork before making the final decision, and even then you can always apply again later if your circumstances change. So it's definitely less stressful than some other countries (*cough* America) where the first box you check on the immigration form is "have you ever been denied a visa before?"

I think i plucked up the courage to do my final submission this weekend. I cleaned up all the paperwork including passable Chinese translation to make my case last weekend and then spent a week to give myself time to make sure i got it right. We'll see how it goes.

Korea has government warnings texted to your phone for so many things: heat, cold, rain, a crime suspect on the lose. But I have to admit that 'Any time the mercury drops below 15 degrees it's a cold weather warning here' did make me laugh as that's the weather here for at least half the year!

That sucks about being under the threshold for the gold card. Good luck with the application.

There has been a conversation at my own job.... trying to convince my boss that just making MORE is not actually... **more**.... sometimes, in fact, it's a lot LESS than just investing in making a sustainable amount that is better quality... that THAT is *more* and it's a more that counts when it comes to longevity and keeping its value.

He's unconvinced.... but he's also nearing retirement.

Our fascination with constant new/more/new seems like mental illness to me.
It's so *short sighted*.
