I read the news every day. Any given day in my life you can be sure of two things. I will drink coffee and i will read the news. To be honest, i mostly just glance the headlines because that's enough to give me general overview of what is going on in the world, but there are always a couple of articles a day that warrant a clickthrough

I went to Burning Man back in 2014. No idea how it compared to what it used to be or to what it's become now but I really enjoyed it.

That said, I read though a couple of articles about the protestors blocking the road, and my take away is that I'm very much on the side of the burners and the tribal police and that the protesters were total cringe, so we are viewing this from very different angles ideologically.

Seeing this as something where people need to take a "side", and implying that one of the sides consists of true burners and the other of festival attendees who are not even worthy of the moniker is exactly what i find so farcical about the situation. The idea that a bunch of people - even ones heading out to spend a whole week bumming around in the desert - were so offended about losing 30 minutes out of their day that they felt the need to rage about it to reporters and call the police... And then for those police to recklessly smash through the blockade and pull guns as if these "total cringe" kids posed some kind of existential threat to everyone around them... It's such a sad indictment of modern American culture, and especially the hippie and drug subcultures, which pride themselves on taking it easy, chilling out and not taking life so serious. To me the whole story perfectly sums up how Americans of all stripes utterly refuse to accept even the mildest inconvenience to their lives... Which ironically is exactly something
