I had such a memorable breakfast in a Portsmouth dockside bar that is been in operation since like 1604.

Half of a traditional English Breakfast... banger, eggs, beans, grilled tomato, toast (no blood sausage, no mushrooms, no ham...) and a pint of cask ale or cider... for £5. That is a hell of a good meal, any time of day but daaaamn it started out that day good.

That sounds... really good. I don't really like heavy breakfasts, but replacing half the heavy with heavy booze feels like just the ticket on a cold English day, assuming you're on vacation.

I love a cask ale so when you tell me "full breakfast plus a beer" I am excited. Sailor had a bright cider with his breakfast. The price couldn't be beat for the caloric intake of fresh-cooked food, and it really was the perfect compliment. Remove half of the meat... add a beer. Plus it was already 10am or later. I don't eat in the early morning,... so when most people eat lunch is when I am ready for breakfast.

Yuck, I hate the processed cheese. I love the fresh one though, feta is my comfort food.

My favourite food is french fries, made from home-grown potatoes, with mayonnaise and mustard.

I love home made french fries! I remember the fantastic sense of discovery i had when i lived in a house with an oven and realized you can just slice potatoes into batons and put them in the oven with a smidgen of oil and they come out more delicious than anything from a fast food place. Sadly, i have not lived in a house with an oven for a long time now, almost 10 years.

Hi, I have a hot air fritteuse for making fries, it is small and very efficient. I think you can place it everywhere.

'It's sustenance, for chrissakes, not a local anaesthetic for your teeth.' - I enjoy ice-cream as much as most people, but this still strikes me as way too true!
