Was curious about the earthquake. Was not a newsmaker in the USA at all.

Honestly it wasn't much of a newsmaker here either. If you look at the earthquake page of the local weather bureau there are several quakes reported every day. This one was big enough to knock over a few buildings on the east coast and create some very noticeable and disconcerting shaking in the capital, but nothing especially out-of-the-ordinary for people in the area. I think a few people died, but thankfully it wasn't a "the big one".

"the song is about this great techno band
and their mother
who was an addict

and people who don't give a shit about techno don't understand
how a song
with no words
can say more
than any song
with singing"

I saw orbital play live in Seattle in a huge, abandoned train station. It was fucking magical. I actually told the Redhead I wanted this song played when I died. So, props.

I enjoyed this post. I can relate to a lot of the things you write, so *fist bump n' shit*

Treat your scabies. Scabies are something that makes RNs itch when we find out our patients have it.

It must've been a treat to see Orbital live! They performed live on MTV in Europe and that's where i first discovered them - they just looked so wild, two bald alien-looking dudes with lights on their glasses surrounded by synthesizers making great songs.

I am still a bit puzzled about where i got the scabies from. I have barely touched another person since COVID began. I'm still avoiding handshakes to this day. I read it's quite rare to get it from bedclothes unless the previous person had an especially bad infestation, but that's the only vector i can figure - just caught it from some shady hotel that didn't wash their sheets. I hope they're finally gone now. Every little itch i still get is stressing me out.

I can see how stressful it would be to get it, not knowing where. Know that the medications we have work pretty damn well. But, I'd be stressing out about itching also. "WHEN IS THIS GONNA STOP!!!!"

I think shady hotel is the likely case. :(

Your introduction of Orbital is exactly how they were when I saw them. they opened with "Satan" :D

"and if you see your mom, son...SATAN!"

Glad to hear the earthquake did not take you. Since we live in an earthquake zone we have and app and it is set for a certain magnitude to make a noise. So a 3 am ish wake-up call from the Taiwan rumble.

There were three that happened in the space of about 24 hours, all around magnitude 6-7. The first one i wasn't sure what it was, because i was on my bed and it was shaking back and forth like i was in a cradle. I thought perhaps someone in the next apartment over was having really wild sex. But then when it happened again i realized what it was, and i started looking round to see if there was anywhere in my apartment i could take cover. (Answer: no.) Then the next day i went to work and just as we were in the office replying to our European colleagues that everything was fine, another one hit. I tell ya what, being in an office up on the 6th floor of a 20-something storey building was a lot scarier than being on the 2nd floor of a 5-storey tenement, even though my apartment is probably far more likely to kill me if it collapses ( ... )

I will check out that video. I know my cousin who lived in Istanbul for 5 or 6 years had some wild rides from quakes and quickly had an earthquake routine in her apartment.
Glad you came away from the escape physically safe.

I'm glad you've finally been diagnosed and that you are getting treatment. I hope those little parasites die soon.
