louisiana bookends picture post

Louisiana was a funny state to photograph. When i first got into the state, way down in the most southwest corner in Cameron parish, i was blown away. But then i cycled north and found the landscape so tedious i didn't take any photos for 2 days. "Poverty tourism" that's not a phrase I've heard before. Being once upon a time a street photographer tho I get it. At the time I was barely off the streets myself. It was purely documentary. A great way to break the ice with a stranger is to ask to take their picture. I got a "yes" far more often than a "no".

Anyway, I always learn something new from reading your posts.

It is! I think getting to Louisiana and seeing the Gulf really made me feel like "i made it", you know? Like no matter what happens next, i feel like i can be happy i arrived at the seaside sun belt. I definitely feel more relaxed, despite some troubles. Now i am more in holiday mode.
