Some of my long-time readers know that before i joined LiveJournal, way back in the 90s, i used to be a teenager who wrote music. I released the vast majority of it for free online, because information wants to be free, hack the planet etc. Although, back in the day, online wasn't the internet, it was BBSes ( Read more... )

The LJ video feature definitely seems to be a bit half-baked. Although, granted, converting an MP3 to video with only one freeze-frame image in it is probably not the type of video the developers were expecting.

I wonder if i should post my music up on some other site? Some of it still exists in various places online, but it's associated with my real name (at the time) and i have made a bit of an effort to try keep this LiveJournal anonymous so i am free to write whatever i want publicly.

You could create a new Youtube account an post it there, then link to it from here?

It sounds mellow, mildly jolly and a bit sleepy-trancelike to me, but not very wintery. Wintery music needs more rage-screaming. Behold my garden... UGH... rage-scream!

Ha! It's funny how the same thing can inspire a different artistic reaction from people. For me, i rarely feel a strong enough sense of rage or bitterness over anything that i could sit through a song-length of people screaming about the thing. Even then it'd probably just redirect my anger toward the person who won't stop screaming!

For me the winter is about looking outside at something rather pretty (i like bleak vistas), but feeling unmotivated to actually go and do anything there, because up close it's actually cold and wet and generally miserable. So it's a sense of being trapped inside and a bit lonely and perhaps a bit frustrated but also fairly peaceful.

I can hear it! No visual, but got sound. I dig it. Seems retro yet mod. Strangely mellow vibe, given the blippy electro bits making it up.

Probably a different experience for me as the coffee kicks in on a snowy Saturday morn than it would be if I were still engaging in more traditional recreational substances.

I see a big black rectangle that reads "Video is now processing," and the link below it leads me to a statement that "The video hosting feature is only available to users who have enabled the new design scheme." Rats!

Fascinating! Now that it is the next day I have been messing around with the video feature a bit more, and it definitely seems to be a little buggy. Fair enough, i suppose, LJ isn't really known for being a video or audio site. I could post my tunes up elsewhere too and link them in, but that could bump up against my token effort to remain "anonymous" on LJ. I'll think about it over the weekend!

I got the same, but I realized that "new design scheme" message was because I'M using the old design scheme. Copied and pasted the MP4 link into a browser where I'm not logged into LiveJournal, and it plays just fine.

Okay, now this is just wrong. I logged out of LJ, clicked on the link in another tab, and now I can hear it! But I still can't see anything.
