Last weekend I realized I was coming up on my 4 week limit and would need to head back over to Hong Kong to refresh my passport stamp. So Sunday i bumbled over the border and stopped in another small district in the New Territories called Fanling. Unlike Tai Po - the site of my previous HK excursion - this one had a mountain right next to the train

Ha, I am glad you enjoyed it! My initial plan was just to write about hiking as an excuse to share photos, but i couldn't resist talking about food!

That shrine was indeed creepy. Something that made it even creepier was that there was some bizarre looped music playing there too. It sounded like some people had placed battery or solar-powered speakers in there that just looped a tiny short chant or some whistling or animal noises or something. With all of them together it sounded like a bizarre avant garde/ambient tune. Next time i head up there i think i will try to record it. It was such a weird spot.
