they DID wear suits like that - seen the Sgt. Pepper's cover ?
that was popular. i'm pretty sure Ken Kesey and his Pranksters had similar outfits
jimi hendrix wore el strange-o suits too but i suppose you could say elvis pioneered that fashion statement.
