Brooke walked in ten minutes after he had said to be there, just out of spite. She didn't even want to be out with him; in the short conversation they'd had at the mall, he'd gotten so far under her skin that it took two showers for her to feel like he might not be there anymore. But it was a shame to let the strapless red dress she'd just bought go to waste right away.

She didn't even bother scanning the crowd at first. Instead, she walked over to the bar and ordered herself a Vodka on the rocks. As the bartender fixed her drink, she finally glanced over her shoulder, only half searching for Damon.

When she finally caught sight of him, she frowned slightly and turned back towards the bartender. Taking hold of her glass, she offered her thanks and gestured towards where Damon was sitting, "It's on his tab."

Then she started to turn around.

Damon was honestly tempted to leave about five minutes after he told her to be there, but if there's one thing he did know, it was that females did things out of spite on occasion, usually toward him before any compelling happened. So when she finally showed up ten minutes after eight, he was vaguely amused. She didn't even have the strength to do lateness in a spite filled way.

He noticed how she didn't even bother to seek him out in the crowd, fitting, and vaguely admirable if he was someone else. Though, he had to give her credit, it wasn't every day that someone did that. She looked, not necessarily stunning, but something pretty damn close.

He waited until she turned back to the bartender before moving over to her, his amusement only barely contained. By the time the bartender gave Brooke her drink, Damon was already close enough to just slide up to the bar next to her.

"I'll let you get by with the fashionably late excuse."

She startled slightly at the sound of his voice because she hadn't expected him to be standing right beside her. Giving him a less than amused look, Brooke turned her back to the bar and leaned against it, finally looking over the crowd.

"Lucky me," she said as she took a sip of her drink.

As she looked around the bar, hoping she might get lucky enough to see someone she knew that could drag her away, Brooke wondered why she'd even bothered to show up. Sure, Damon was more attractive than she'd ever say out loud, but he was so irritating. And she just wasn't in the mood to deal with a forced date.

Sighing softly, she glanced over at him and lifted an eyebrow. "How many drinks do I have to have before you let me go?"

In response to her less than amused look, Damon merely looked at her with the most innocent look he could muster, which somehow still managed to look somewhat evil.

"How magical, someone who understands how sarcasm works," he comments, leaning back against the bar nonchalantly.

Unfortunately for Brooke, there was no one she knew to drag her away, and even if someone did show up, well, Damon would like to think they'd leave the two of them alone. True, Damon could stand to be a little less irritating, but the same could be said for Brooke and her own annoying qualities.

Taking a sip of his drink, he pondered before shrugging. "You could have just not shown up, you know, it's like I held a gun to your head to make you do this. Anyway, that depends on several factors. One of which is whether or not you'll tell me your name, because it's hardly fair for you to know mine, but not have me aware of yours."
