Thanks! We love it, especially Jay and Tommy. The yams are a nice sweet counterpoint to spicy peppers and acidic tomatoes. :) I picked that up from vegan chili Steve's dad used to make.

I think the sweet potatoes/yams issue actually causes widespread North American confusion, because I've heard people here arguing over whether or not they're the same thing, ha! Regionally they're often named differently, but at most markets I've been to in this town, they're yams. (Although at restaurants, they're always "sweet potato fries.")
References to capsicums and aubergines confused me at various points of life, causing me to imagine exotic, crazy vegetables. I was almost sad to find out they weren't.
In Australia, it's just 'many different types of sweet potato.' But there's probably one specific variant that might be a yam there, but is still just say an 'orange sweet potato' or something like that here.
