Ok--lemme first say that I think that what that town did to that girl is horrible, though pretty typical of "christian" behavior in this country.
But--I gotta ask--what the hell did they expect moving to bumfuck nowhere Oklahoma? Maybe I'm just chicken, but I, with my firmly alternative worldview, am staying in an urban environment where diverse viewpoints are at the very least tolerated. Small town anywhere is anathema to diversity. Of any flavor.
But didn't you express similar sentiments about moving away from Indy and what you characterized as it's religious environment almost a year ago?
I left Indy to come back to my kid. Getting away from the religious bullshit was a bonus, but if Max had come to me, it would have been something I was willing to do.
But then, I'm not an atheist, so...
I know we disgaree about this, but sometimes it's OK to opt to not fight the fight.
You're right. We disagree. Because opting to not fight the fight is losing. It's like not voting. If you want to have a say, you gotta do it. Otherwise, your moral authority is nonexistent. It's like saying that you support a woman's right to choose, and then not donating to planned parenthood or voting for pro-choice politicians.
Or are you planning to move to bumfuck nowhere Oklahoma soon on an enlightemnent mission?I don't have to move someplace to try to help make it better. I can donate to progressive charities, progressive candidates. I can buy books that have been banned from libraries by

I think NO CHILD should be treated unfairly for their parents religious belief system. I think that any school that OPENLY prays at public events is violating the seperating of church and state. I believe that Athiests have the same WORLD belief systems (fairness to all people, caring for the environment etc.) that any human being with common sense has. That what ever god or non entity you believe in is OK. Because as humans we have free will and intelligence and that without variety and opposing viewpoints this world would be a very boring place

It doesn't matter where they moved. She's got a right to be treated proper.
