Me too! What surprises me the most is the ultimate Surpreme Court decision. According to the Economist obituary on Mildred Loving (here: http://www.economist.com/obituary/displaystory.cfm?story_id=11367685), the ultimate decision they came to was that marriage is "one of the basic rights of man", which "cannot be infringed by the state."
If this is the case, then WHY, and HOW, can the federal government put the responsibility of gay marriage to state law?
Gay or straight, black, white, asian, Mexican, or as the judge who wanted to separate the Lovings put it, "white, black, yellow, Malay and red," the Loving case puts it simply. "Tell the court I love my wife." All they wanted was to live in peace with each other.
