Note: I don’t understand a word of Korean, so I’m basing the boys’ replies on what the translator said. Also, sometimes the translator’s Mandarin isn’t very accurately pronounced or he’s too soft, so I was unable to catch some parts, but I’m pretty sure the translation is mostly accurate, but feel free to point out errors!
I: A lot of fans feel you did a very good job acting in “Attack of the Pinup Boys”, that you were very natural. Will you be looking to expanding your career in film and television?
DH: Super Junior and Super Junior M are quite similar, in that we have a lot of members with a wide range of talents. Whether if it is Super Junior or Super Junior M, every member specializes in their own respective talents, such as MC-ing or acting. But right now, I will perform to the best of abilities as a member of Super Junior M, but if there is a chance in the future I love to act in movies or television dramas.
I: Ok I get it, so right now you’re concentrating on Super Junior M’s album and promotional activities, but in the future you’re open to more acting opportunities. I heard that your senior Kangta said on a programme previously that the junior to keep an eye on would be you. [Kangta means that Donghae is the junior with the most potential and likely to have the brightest future.]
DH: Kangta is very popular back in Korea and he’s one of my idols. Watching Kangta perform in H.O.T. was my inspiration to becoming an performer as well, and after I joined the company, watching his performances inside and outside of Korea, I was very touched. Now that Kangta is in the army, he sent me a text message recently saying, “You’re very fortunate, and you’re doing well now. One day when there’s time, we’ll go grab a meal together. All the best!” Because right now Kangta’s in the military, I hope he takes care of his health, and after his stint, I also hope we can meet outside to eat together. And maybe then, Kangta and Super Junior M can perform and carry out promotional activities in China together.
SW: We all respect him (Kangta) very much.
I: Thank you very much. Now we’ll talk a bit to Ryeowook. Ryeowook, you also took part in “Attack of the Pinup Boys”, a lot of people felt you were very good and experienced. How did you go about tackling this role?
RW: When I first got the role, I thought it was a very difficult role to act. Also, amongst the members, a lot of them specialise in acting. But I had a lot of scenes with Siwon and Siwon gave tips to me on how to act out the role more realistically. Because of all the help from Siwon, I was able to give my best performance.
SW: At that time, Ryeowook was very diligent and focused to perform the role to the best of his abilities, and when filming, he really wanted to do his best, so I feel that even without my help, he would have been able to bring out the nuances of the character. I: So actually Ryeowook got quite a bit of help from Siwon? Siwon, our Chinese audiences are quite familiar with you already, because you’ve shot a movie previously with Andy Lau, “A Battle of Wits”. Do you still keep in touch with Andy Lau?
SW: When we just finished filming for “A Battle of Wits”, there was a period of time when we kept in touch quite consistently. But recently, maybe because Andy Lau is quite busy now as he’s a big star and Super Junior M just debuted in China and there are lot of promotional activities, so we both haven’t had much time to contact one another. Even though I haven’t had time to give him a call recently, I think he will understand our situations. I hope next month, June, if there’s a chance to meet up in China with Andy Lau, I will definitely pay him a visit. I really hope that by June or July, I will have a chance to meet up with him. I’m even preparing a gift for him for when we do manage to meet up.

HK: Actually, the fans were the ones who nominated me for the position, not as a singer, but as an ordinary citizen. Then the company wrote a letter of recommendation and nominated me again, and during the voting, the fans were very supportive. So I’m very thankful to the fans for giving me such an honour. It’s an honour.
I: A lot of celebrities will undergo a lot of preparations and fitness training before they do the run. Did you?
HK: I’ve always been training my fitness.
I: How do you feel about this momentous occasion in your life?
HK: I think during that moment I will be very emotional (to the extent that) I don’t even know which foot to start (walking) with. But it really is an honour, and a really rare opportunity to be a torch-bearer, as in one lifetime there will only be about 15 Olympics as it happens every 4 years and to have an Olympics held in our very own country.
