Art for Held to Account [Small Fandom Bang]

Apr 10, 2016 12:48

It's always a joy to discover new fandoms with fantastically written fic, and the funny, well-written Dear Ladies story you got to illustrate for smallfandombang was no exception. A good time was had by all (well, except Duncan).

Poor Duncan, you can just see his frustration as the two ladies plough on regardless.

Great artwork!

Haha, he is certainly not getting paid enough to put up with those two. Thanks!

(Thank you for your very kind words ^^")

Just wanted to say again how much I love this. I love the little details - Hilda's trademark pearls, that beautiful pattern on her dress, the flower brooch; Evadne's glasses, the touch of contrasting colour at her neckline, her little glance out at the viewer; poor Duncan's expression as he staggers on with all the luggage.

And it was such a clever idea putting the map of their progress in the background - it works so well. Very dramatic. I look forward to seeing what else you come up with for SFBB!

(Btw, is it OK to friend your journal to keep an eye on your art? You don't have to friend my journal back, obviously.)

Thank you so much! I loved your story, and it was a lot of fun to come up with artwork for it.

When I have time, I'm planning to find and watch more of Fyffe & Logan's performances - they're hilarious in the single episode of Dear Ladies I've seen, and I've only heard good things in regards to their work, so it should be fun.

And I'm honestly not sure how friending a journal on LJ works (I fail at internet-ing), but if you want to follow mine, go for it!

You know, I am absolutely thrilled that you've become a fan ^_^ I did wonder what you'd make of Dear Ladies, and Hinge and Bracket.

When you do have time, there's lots of stuff recently uploaded to YouTube which might interest you. (Though there's no more of Dear Ladies itself). You just have to search "Hinge and Bracket". I really recommend listening to some of their radio shows as well as looking at the visual stuff.

And I've now friended your journal ^^ It's just so I will always have a handy link to it on my profile and your posts will appear on my friends page in the feed.

This is awesome, I'm so impressed by anyone who can actually draw/paint something rather than just layer graphics together which is my go-to format :D

Ha, you say that as though layering graphics is easy! Every time I try to merge a couple pictures together in photoshop, it ends up looking like something a drunk serial killer glued together from ripped up magazine bits - not usually the look I'm going for. I'm always impressed by any graphics/manips that have pieces fading into eachother and aren't just "put the photos next to each other in different sized boxes then make everything pink" which is my go-to style when I'm not scribbling (one of my art teachers once told me she could always pick out which project was mine, because everything was in boxes - this was not a compliment).

TL;DR - thanks! (n˘v˘•)¬

Totally DID read, with interest :D I always say this challenge gives me a chance to pretend to be an artist once a year because I don't' really label myself like that. Writer, yes. And then someone who occasionally plays with Fireworks (one of few good things that came out of a past relationships was that the ex was a web designer and I picked up some basics). Give me an actual brush and pencil and I can produce something underwhelmingly average and nothing that would actually resemble characters if that makes sense. Variety is the spice of art too I think :)
