I'm posting this here because I told my Conscience!Sally I wouldn't risk starting drama in the OP.

So, a post went up at the brittana community, of which I'm an avid lurker, waiting for one of my Brittana fics-in-progress to finish writing itself so I can post it. And ... I get why the whole business of the, "Santana is a lesbian!" comments makes most of the Brittana shippers happy. It means that there's slightly more of a chance that Brittany and Artie ( Read more... )

When I posted that post thing majig I didn't even realize someone had already done so like weeks ago.I'm just finding this whole "def a lesbo" thing out today and I was just as confused (though happy) that's why I stated "Brad Falchuk confuses things up for us once again." And I totes did not mean to piss peeps off, not my intentions.

But in all honesty, we can't assume how the character or storyline of Santana will play out, it's still too early. And honestly, though the Glee creative team has made a few amazing storylines so far, they've also made some really shitty mess ups too.

Are you more upset that the creative team is not using the label of bi curious?Because I think they were able to get across to the public that Santana is def. that. Even if they didn't say the actual word.

Though the whole cliche Kurt/Blaine discussion on being Bi is so over done. Hell even The L-Word made fun of that shit of an argument.

But the problem is that: a. words are important, and b. following Glee's other issues of bisexual erasure (like, the teasing at ships like Sam/Puck with sexual comments, the meta-humor of which is fundamentally grounded in, "but Puck is straight, so he and Sam would NEVER work, that's why it's funny for them to make immature sex jokes at each other," and the half-nod that bisexuals got with Blaine's joke excuse for a plotline), this kind of thing is beginning to look like a trend that alienates bisexual viewers and reinforces harmful stereotypes about bisexuality (e.g., "bisexual is just what confused people say," "bisexual is just the stopping point for people who are too scared to come out as gay," "bisexuals are sexually indiscriminate" [Britt and Santana both between "Sectionals" and "Duets"], and so on), whether or not RIB intend for it to do so ( ... )
