Been a long time, but hopefully this chapter is worth it. I'm reasonably certain the next chapter will be the last, but sometimes things get longer as I write, so no guarantee. I thought it was only going to be ten chapters, at one point.

Not quite a year ago I posted the first bit of this story, thinking it was a one-off vignette. 50,000+ words ( Read more... )

God. God. I love the switch in this, Pepper finishing off a bottle of wine without noticing it; Tony finally, finally not just aware of his impact on the world, but on the people around him.

And just, okay, the way they interact in this, how aware of the vulnerabilities and blind spots when it comes to each other:

but he was rambling now, his words sliding together with that earnestness that never failed to knock her off her stride.

It's just so organic, and subtle and true. Gah.

ohhhh thank you. and thank you again for saving my ass with the car thing. I'm so happy it works. I was kind of paranoid about them actually communicating for once, afraid it would come off heavy handed or too obvious. yay.

Very, very lovely. Still on the edge of my seat for them, I have been loving this ever since Tony and his screwdriver and the piano, way back at the beginning.

This is SO meaty, so authentic, and so goddamned GOOD.

What I love most is the very well-played, well-thought out game theory in this whole thing. The behind-the-scenes business politics. SHIELD. Reporters. The whole works.

And your voices for all of the characters: AMAZING. I can't get over how authentic and compelling this whole thing is. I need to reread this and start asking you questions about motivations, what's going on inside their heads, etc. God. I told myself I wasn't going to read this until after I take my exams, but hell, once I gave myself a little taste of this, I couldn't stop.
