The cast members for Kaibutsu-kun, starting on April 17th (Nippon TV, 9:00PM), starring Ohno Satoshi, have been announced. Kaibutsu-kun is a manga by Fujiko FujioⒶ portraying the prince of Kaibutsu Land, Kaibutsu-kun, and the monster trio Dracula, Werewolf, and Frankenstein. Ohno will be playing the main character, Kaibutsu-kun. His costars include Yashima Norito, who will be play Dracula, Dacho Club's Ueshima Ryuhei, who will be playing Werewolf, Choi Hong Man, who will be playing Frankenstein, and to play the prince of the underworld, Matsuoka Masahiro. Ever since Ohno co-starred with Matsuoka in a stage play, he has been affectionately referring to him as "Matsu-nii"1. For Ohno, this must be a comforting addition to the line-up.

Before filming even began, Ohno picked up reading the original manga and watched the animated version to get himself in character. The details of his meeting with the author, Fujiko FujioⒶ, are written on Johnny's web, Johnny's Entertainment's official cell phone site. Mr. Fujiko personally gave Ohno this original manga series as a gift. In return, Ohno gave him FREESTYLE, an anthology showcasing his artwork from his exhibition in 2008.

"I was happy when he told me, 'I love this kind of art. It's a live-action drama, so bring out your personality and reflect that into the Kaibutsu-kun character!'"

When asked about the live-action drama, Mr. Fujiko stated, "When I was informed that Arashi's Ohno-kun would play Kaibutsu-kun, I was surprised and very pleased. I look forward to Ohno-kun in the role of a monster prince, playing the character with overflowing enthusiasm and with an eerie spookiness!"

In the past, Ohno met with Nara Yoshitomo2 and the two got along well. He is known as an artist in Johnny's Entertainment. His meeting with Mr. Fujiko must have motivated his desire to create. In addition, other artsy individuals within Johnny's Entertainment include Domoto Tsuyoshi and SMAP's Katori Shingo. Of the two, Katori has played Hattori-kun for the live-action movie NINxNIN Ninja Hattori-kun THE MOVIE, originally a manga by Mr. Fujiko. This makes him a senior to Ohno in playing a Fujiko character. As with art, Ohno shares many commonalities with Fujiko. As Arashi's artistic representative, we look forward to seeing him exceed Katori's performance.
