While excursioning with kragars_shadow, I saw a woman with a "Downtown Owen Sound" (my hometown) tote bag at the corner of Erb and Caroline.

Awesome.

Bog the first: There's a downtown to Owen Sound?

Bog the second: It's worth making up tote bags to advertise it?

I would refer you to www.e-owensound.com.

There's been a huge push for years trying to revitalize the downtown against the Walmarts of the world. Once you're there, it's beautiful and right on the water. The website hardly does it justice.

Well answered. :) I keep thinking Owen Sound is kinda small, but it's not really, is it?

It's about, what, 21,000 or so people now? So to me, growing up, it was "the city" we went to a few times a year, but to most of the population of Toronto, it's "that little town near our cottage where we can buy groceries".

It is a very pretty downtown. Especially at Christmas, if you're like me and think too many Christmas lights is impossible.

Actually, I have a postcard of the grain elevator on my wall here, because I thought it was hilarious. No one here finds it hilarious, because they look at it and assume Owen Sound is this huge touristy place in Ontario with a famous grain elevator. This, of course, makes it even more hilarious to me.
