Perhaps it’s not a question of being better or opposite, why don’t you think of it as of how you personally want to see them and how you personally want the others see them.
That's a good way to approach it, and I think I prefer these shots in color, but don't you think some photos, not necessarily these, but some photos, are more interesting one way than the other? I often try a shot both ways so see what I prefer.
An online friend was experimenting with B&W recently and was not used to it, and a bunch of people were giving their opinions on the relative merits of the two formats. (http://28-02.livejournal.com/167294.html) I was just thinking about that as I was preparing to post these, and then I decided to throw up the B&W twins for comparison.
Sometimes I suppose it just depends on what mood you're in. And for me it may also depend on whether I feel a need to mix it up a little on the journal so it doesn't start to be monotonous.
ahahaa)) thanks for your examples! actually, I like the BW versions. in colour they are good too, but if we compare colour and monochrome, I feel the difference. BW seems to me more contrasty and solid (if it is right word here)? it helps to concentrate on geometrical issues.
After looking at these some more, I think I prefer the color, because the colors are so vivid and unusual and the compositions are simple, but I think it is a good exercise sometimes to compare images side-by-side. At some point if I get a shot that I like a lot better in black and white than in color, I'll post another comparison.
