A disaster avoided: AMAZING college professors

Oct 01, 2007 12:50

So, ever since my college semester started, it's been pretty routine for me to go home on the weekends.

My father picks me up Friday (late), and drops me off back on campus Monday morning (EARLY), before work.

Usually, I'd get here anywhere between 8-9am. I have a class at 11am, so I'd sleep until then, setting an alarm to wake me up around 10.45am so I have time to walk to the lecture hall. (Since I'm dressed already, I don't need that much time to get ready; I can just wake up and go.)

Today, I didn't set my alarm; I have a habit of letting my alarm go off until it stops, instead of "snoozing" it, and my roommate doesn't really like the sound of the alarm, so I decided to leave it off.

Big mistake.

I woke up at 11.30am. T_T

Now, of all the days to be majorly late to a class, today was not it: we had a unit exam.

So I ran like my life depended on it (I was sure I was screwed, but I took my chances anyway), and made it in for the last 15 minutes or so of class (ends at 11.50)

Just when I was about to start rambling off my excuses to my professor, he hands me the test with a grin on his face; I dart off to a seat to take it, and he even follows me to make sure I have a pencil.

He ALSO gives me extra time to finish after everyone has left.

Now, this is my first year in college (freshmen for the win!), so I don't really know how it works, but I'm pretty sure if it had been any other professor, I would've been screwed.

So I just wanted to make a post, with my gratitude, dedicated to him and all the other awesome professors who have saved our asses in the past.

If you have any stories similar to this where a professor or teacher has been kind and saved you from disaster (extending a deadline, letting you redo an assignment, make up an assignment, etc), please, do share them!
