Tonight was the second last episode of Downton Abbey. So it’s almost over already?! I can’t believe it; when I think back on the things that happened… Luckily there’s a Christmas Special coming, I’ve been told.
Yeah, I've been feeling on/off about this show since the end of s1.
I'm actually amazed (and pleased) at how smoothly Mary/Matthew have been running this past season. And that there's conflict without resorting to the cheating trope.
The brother very well could be a nice guy, because of course he was uncomfortable by the situation and would have preferred it to eat with the servants and things like that, but it was just too easy to look at him with the disapproving eyes of the upstairs people.
One of the problems with the show, tbh. Sometimes it deals fairly with the class differences, sometimes it... doesn't.
Baby Sybil; the others talk about her but there’s no evidence that they care about her as an individual
I feel like a lot of the time, they don't. Baby Sibyl is an extension of Sibyl, to most of the family.
Also, is it weird that Carson, even though he was appalled and disgusted, actually seemed more tolerant of Thomas than of Ethel? Like, yes homosexuality is super bad, but being forced to prostitution because everybody
( ... )

Yes, it wouldn't have surprised me to see more problems for them. I'm glad they've been (mostly) okay. Of course, they're worried about not having a baby yet (which was not surprising...).
Baby Sibyl is an extension of Sibyl, to most of the family. Yes. That's sad.
On the other hand, everyone knew Ethel was a prostitute. Reputation is everything to him. Yes, that's true....
