I have the audiobooks on my iPod and I frequently listen to them. But every time I read/listen to OOTP I really want to make Harry a real person and punch him in the head

See, I loved OOTP. I just hated the first few chapters where Harry wouldn't shut up. I get WHY he was upset, I just hated his attitude towards Ron, Hermione and everyone else who believes in him and has always been supportive.
See, I love Order of the Phoenix the most for that reason (and because of all of the lovely Remus/Sirius interaction). Because Harry is SUCH a typical 15 year old in it. It's so true to how teens act at that age. *g*
He's unbearable at moments in that book -- as Phenius Nigellus (sp?) takes time out to tell him at one point -- and I appreciate that about the series. It's the angry book, it's the necessary bratting out before he sucked it up and becomes who he needs to be to do what he does in the last book
It's also the book where he makes the biggest mistake and pays an enormous price for it. I think you have to read it a few times to get past the fact that lovely Harry is not a trying teenager, but it ultimately works.
Exactly so. He screws up royally & it beautifully sets up the last two books. Plus, I love that Harry's not a perfect hero by any stretch. He's surly and impulsive and angry a lot and makes mistakes and makes everything about him, even when it's not, and has to have his friends bail him out, and gets lucky way more than his fair share, yet somehow, he does the right thing.
