Dani, for her part, smiles and blushes a little from all the attention through the song before blowing out her candles.

As the photographers flash away at a distance and Maddie cuts the cake, Jack grabs a pair of presents and hands them to the birthday duo. "Try these on for size!"

Danny rips his open.

"...FentonTech?"

Each package contains a pair of green-lensed goggles with an infrared look to them. Some effort was made to paint them suitably black and white, but FentonWorks products have a certain unmistakable style even when they're not bare metal.

"Pretty neat," Dani says with an appropriate amount of enthusiasm.

The look Dani is shooting Danny right now pretty much says, 'It's the thought that counts.'

"So, what do they do?" asks Kelly as she peers at the goggles over her friend's shoulder.

"They're the new Ghost Goggles!" Jack declares proudly, in case everyone hadn't already guessed. "They let you see on spectral energy wavelengths, so you can see if an object's haunted or follow a ghost's trail!"

"Hey, that's pretty sweet!" Danny admits. He puts his on and looks around.

"Uh... Dad? I can't see anything but Danielle."

"Guess this place is clean, then!"

"No, I mean I can't see anything but Danielle. Everything else is a kind of purple blur."

Don't mind Danielle. She'll be over here, trying to contain her gigglefit.

"The Ghost Goggles don't read visible wavelengths very well," Maddie explains, handing Everett a piece of cake.

"Great," Danny mutters. "Oh, well. They're still pretty sweet. Thanks."

"Yes, thank you," Dani says, getting up from her seat to give Jack a peck on the cheek.

Once she sits down Kelly sets a box down in front of the birthday girl with a "Happy Birthday". Inside the box is a leather and silver bracelet.

"Neat! This is one your aunt made, right?" Dani asks. Kelly nods.

Everett's gift is next, a two volume set of the complete Sherlock Holmes canon along with a nice bookmark.

"Thanks, Ev."

"You're welcome, Dani-yell."
