YOu know, in small snatches between long stretches of being EVOL and forcing you to write John/Rodney at the Olympics fic with me *eg*, I just watched both SG1 and SGA on the second go-round on SciFi and just realized the whole man eating insect thing was familiar because gee! That concept does remind me of those cunning Wraith! I'd hate to be writing for SG1 at this point - there isn't a single thing that hasn't been done at least once if not 10 times and they must be pulling what hair they have left out of their heads trying to come up with new spin on old plots.
That said, I think it's ironic that they are now chanelling ideas from their own spinoff show.
Uh-oh. This means I need to catch up on both SGA and SG1. Crap. Orii? Oh noes... That said, the consuming alien whatsis idea has been around for a while, in everything from Alien to Shadow Run to The Exorcist to... The Marah in Kinda on Dr. Who.
Insect specific for stuff like that... Shadow Run and the insect shamanic tradition, numerous other RPG material.
I must admit that I both admire and am frustrated by the continuity items between SG1 and SGA - since I generally watch six shows of whatever it is in a row, instead of trying to sort when what happens in which when. Continuity and backstory though, I love it all.

Were you actually serious about that as a possibility? I mean, I'll happily read whatever you come up with when you come up with it, but I'm still sorta in shock over the curling/ski jumping idea.
It's the timeline that doesn't work for me. If Ancients (Alterans) and Orii were one group who evolved into two groups of Ascended beings, the the Wraith thing being related to the Orii wouldn't be right, because we know the Ancients ascended after they got to Earth, when a mysterious plague decimated their population, but they were on Earth after being driven away from Pegasus galaxy by the Wraith, so... no connection, because supposedly: Wraith came first, then Ancients fled, then they got infected, then they ascended and then they split into good ascended guys and Orii.
