Right now I'm this weird combination of amused, impressed, and depressed that you wrote for these characters more consistently and thoughtfully while high on painkillers than RIB usually do stone-cold sober (at least, I'm assuming they're sober. If not... well, as Oz once said, "that explains a LOT.").
Seriously, I really enjoyed this-sweet, charming, and with an excellent balance of angst and fluff. And while I'm pretty sure I'll always be a Rachel/Quinn 'shipper at heart, I also know I'll definitely check it out if you ever write more Mike/Quinn stuff as well. Nice work.
Ha. Thanks! Maybe the writers toke up every time they're sitting down. Like you said, that definitely would explain a lot.
But I'm glad you liked it! I don't know when I started thinking that I liked Mike and Quinn, because, y'know, they've had like negative amounts of interaction with each other throughout the entire series, and I actually kind of really like Mike and Tina (he's like a bazillion times better than Artie in almost every way), but...I dunno. In my head, they're totally adorable together.
It's kind of odd, really: quite a few of the Faberry 'shippers I follow on tumblr have recently been talking about how they love the idea of a secretnerd!Quinn/Mike bromance where they do stuff like hang out after school, play video games, and argue about the merits of the various Star Wars movies. Then yesterday I read your fic. And now this morning I saw this:
Hmmmmmm. I never thought of a secretnerd!bromance between the two of them. Probably because, try as I might, I don't think I could ever manage to convincingly write Quinn as a nerd. She's too... I don't know, something about how I see her character in my head, I can't make the nerd thing fit. Almost anyone else on the show (save for Finn, because he's too simplistic, and Scheu, because he thinks far too much of himself to ever allow himself to get involved in something nerdy), yes. Quinn, not so much, unfortunately. I totally wish I could, because nerd!Quinn would be awesome. Especially if she of the Firefly variety, because Firefly tops Star Wars in every way possible
( ... )
And I don't know if I've ever seen a story shipping the two of them, either. Perhaps my drugged subconscious was trying to prod me into some unbroken ground or something...
Urgh. I wish. They probably pay better than the shit job I have now. Slash it would probably keep my blood pressure under control because then I could theoretically keep them from absolutely shit-tastic writing that bastardizes their own characters.
Also, since I just came from Vegas, I'd put money on the new duet being a split-screen montage about them pining over Finn. But OMG they finally let Quinn sing in a lower register aaaaaah.

So now I'm starting to think there's some sort of Mike/Quinn vibe in the air or something. ;)

I really love seeing fics with such rare pairings, so I'm so glad your drugged subconscious prodded you to this pairing. It was lovely <3
