I work in a school library, and I routinely tell kids what they should read. Am I evil and just don't know it?

You're just the first-stage pusher; you're encourage thing with the SOFT drug of reading, and the Capitalist Mother Overseer hopes they will be lured into harder drugs of BUYING their reading materials and then even buying on RELEASE days and attending release parties and the like. *grin*
