Holiday Goodness

When my mom got here Dec. 24, my husband put up the (very nice!) fake tree we got for free several years ago. Mom brought out the OMG GORGEOUS tree skirt (see icon for not-impressive rendition) she had made and put in 80+ hours on ( see detail here). It is amazing. She and the kids decorated the tree with just a little help from me (I got to ( Read more... )

I have a parallel-to-USB adapter for the printer we're going to be retiring in the next week or so.

Really? WOW! And here I thought that the two kinds of cables just wouldn't work together and I was asking a silly question.

Now what I need to do is to get my files and my label sheets to somewhere that has a laser printer that will TALK to a computer on which I can have my files so I can print out the labels so I can stick them on envelopes so I can fold and stuff and SEND everything!

You know...BEFORE I go back to school.

Nope, you can get converters for just about any combination of connections. Some of them are ridiculously expensive, e.g. SCSI-to-USB.

Which is the other reason we're retiring the Epson (besides the fact that its photo printing quality has just deteriorated after, oh, ten years) -- the bigger scanner is SCSI, so I haven't been able to use it since upgrading to a new computer almost a year ago. We're going to buy another HP all-in-one like the one I got while I had my apartment, which is currently connected to Jack's computer.

So when do you go back to school? I have rehearsals cutting both Saturday and Sunday down the middle for three hours (2-5), but maybe I could come over tomorrow night, watch some Vicki goodness, crash there, and come home in the morning.

You should see it up close...there are stuffed portions. It's beaded. It's got sequins individually sewn on. It's ALL HAND-SEWN. It is AMAZING. When I asked for this, I never expected something with THIS MUCH WORK put into it; I was thinking, like, felt and glue, you know?

And now I have an heirloom. I'm in awe.

Yes! I LOVE having programmer-lady-friends! Excel made the thing actually MERGE and...oh, it's a relief.

Now I just have to get SOME printer or other to print out the files I've so handily created. *sigh* Onto the labels I have. Yay for Valerie and her offer (above)

As I was reading the first half of the post, I was wondering why you didn't use an adapter. ;) Then again, I remember when Macs were USB and just about everything printer-wise was made for parallel ports. :P You know, except the expensive printers made for Macs. ;)

FANTASTIC tree skirt! Very lovely! :)

wow...that's one heck of a tree skirt. ^_^

And remember...just because *you* think a comp question might be dumb...doesn't mean that it *is*. heh. I've certainly been told that often enough. *G*

[and I'd have probably asked the adapter question myself, as I'm used to seeing them for the mouse...heh. From the large-to small plug...as I recall a few of the newer ones have USB adapters. heh Or was that one of the keyboards? anyway....]
