Family Vacation Successes!

Today, in spite of a forecast of low-90s (which is GREAT for this area this time of year but still enough to have me DRIPPING in sweat the whole time), I let Opa talk us into going to Petit Jean State Parkwhere there were cliffs, rock formations, caves, a waterfall, and TREES (go see the pretty pictures)!!!! and the kids turn out to be natural rock climbers, especially Elf.

I am shocked, shocked I tell you! :-D Sounds like a lovely time. So glad you're enjoying the vacation so much -- you deserve it!

I am also totally not surprised at her mountain goat abilities...but I am thrilled, as is Husband, who delighted in seeing her in blue jeans (albeit Barbie ones), handily scrambling up huge rocks with NO fear, no whining, no quibbling, just good instincts and technique and...she was fantastic.

Ben made a decent showing for himself, but he doesn't have the stamina or skill Elf does. She just instinctively KNOWS what her body will do (oh, how I remember that....) and it is a JOY to watch. We'll see how Ben does with another year on him. :-)

The vacation continues to be utterly marvellous.
