RIP Lorena Gale, Farah Fawcett and Michael Jackson

Jun 25, 2009 19:22

I'm almost afraid to ask who's going to shuffle off this mortal coil next! Callous perhaps, but this is a one-two-three punch that's left me quite shocked. I was sad enough about Lorena Gale, who of course played Elosha on BSG, that Farah barely registered. And unfortunately, she in turn will be overshadowed many, many times over by Jackson's death ( Read more... )

Sad day. Pretty unbelievable.

I wasn't even that familiar with either of them, but I still appreciate what a huge day it is. All I really knew him from was the song he sang before Free Willy. Even his big songs, I always knew the parodies of them better.

Yeah, I just keep thinking about his kids, and how awful it's going to be for them growing up without their father. :(

I'd gotten more into Michael Jackson in the last couple of years, for various and sundry reasons, and I remember him a little from the early eighties and nineties, obviously. Unbelievable is most certainly the right word for this.

My guess for next to go? Elizabeth Taylor.

MTV actually played VIDEOS earlier. That's how big this is.

Mmm, you're probably right. My grandmother will be devastated if that happens during her lifetime, heh.

I was watching BBC News and they just had live, round-the-clock coverage of MJ's death. That's big also, because generally they have other programming in addition to the news.

Yeah... I'm just speechless right now. Makes you think, doesn't it? About how we never know what could happen, that anyone can go at any time.

I've calmed down a little since I wrote this post, but every so often I'll think about it and be like, "Dude ... holy CRAP!" It's just so surreal.

Things like this capture the public consciousness because they remind us acutely of our own mortality, or at least that's my theory. You have to use each minute. Carpe diem.

I just heard about Micheal Jackson awhile ago. Sad and kinda of freaky that all of these Hollywood stars are dying. I mean Two today and Ed McMann yesterday. If i was Patrick Swayze i'd start to worry.

They broke in on the six o'clock news to announce it, right in the middle of a story, and I literally went, "WHAT? You can't be serious!" to the newsreader on the screen. It's just really, really freaky to think he's gone.

Of course, there are the nitwits trying to capitalize on this by starting fake rumours of other celebrities having died ... I wish there was a way to punch those folks in the face via computer screen.

We just found out about it by chance. Yesterday was my mothers birthday so we hadn't been really listening to the news or radio. My mother went to check her email before we did her cake and saw the headline right before she was about to turn of the computer. This was around 8:30ish at night.

I am getting tired of hearing it now. It's literally everywhere. Even the radio is playing his songs nonstop. I'm turning in now just to hear about the autopsy and details surrounding his death. I was never really in the generation he was big so......

I've just heard about that. Sad really. Makes them look like complete idiots when it's found out not to be true though.

I just can't believe it. I read about Farrah this morning and just felt glad that Ryan O'Neill was with her.

As for MJ. I was really shocked. And I cried quite a bit. I'm a pretty big fan, or was around the time that the History album came out. Just so crazy. As I was telling Lynda earlier, I think his death affected me more than hers just because it's closer to our generation.

Very sad day indeed.
