Aww, Emily. I completely and totally understand why she's so skittish, and LOVE it, and love her for being the way she is...but it's still sad. I hope Derek realizes he's going to have to push her, because she's too protective of her emotions, and he's definitely the pushing type.

Also, Emily calling him a nerfherder cracked me up. :D

Watching the show I've never seen the two of them as a likely couple, but when I started reading your story if became so obvious.

Yes, they should definitely be together!
And yes, is would happen like this!

I'm loving the vulnerability in both of them.

I've been stalking the master post list the last few days hitting update in the hope another chapter will magically appear!
