Ohhh... I wish I could do disjointed River like you. I love the way she makes sense in the internal loop, but seen from the outside it's typical River at her worst days, in need of a shot of something calming.
I've been rewatching the series lately and I wonder if she makes sense to herself at least some of the time and it's everyone else who's missing the point.
From my (limited) experience with the mentally unstable, they generally make sense to themselves. They just communicate on a different frequency from the rest of us so nobody understands.
What I like is that a few times, Mal is the one who understands her best. Like he manages to 'tune in' to the same wavelength, or close enough.
Oh man that's awesome. You need to write FF more. Seriously, this is amazing and ohsoRiver/ I'm also impressed that in just one line you managed to get Kaylee perfect.
