“I think you should be more careful this full moon,” said Howell, as we walked down the sidewalk from the hospital to the SEPTA bus station.
“What?” I asked, mouth full of lemon-filled doughnut.
Yes, I felt different after drinking my partner’s blood, but I thought that was because it was fresh, straight from a pumping heart, rather than from pigs that had had already been turned into bacon.
“We don’t know what my blood will do, in conjunction with the moon,” he continued.
I swallowed and smiled. “I’ll be with you, sir,” I said. “I couldn’t be any safer.”
