No Promises

“Igraine Blodeuwedd Gryffydd, what the hell were you thinking?” said Toby, when she finally regained consciousness.

Gryff blinked. “Just now? That my mother must have really hated me to name me that.”

Jason loomed at the foot of her infirmary bed. “You lost fourteen pounds and we were only captive for nine days. Dammit, sir, you promised you weren’t going to slip us your rations anymore.”

She struggled to sit up, and Levi helped her. “We know why, Gryff,” he said softly. “We just don’t like it.”

“I just…” said Gryff. “I can’t…”

Toby patted her ankle. “Yeah. We know.”
