Laura smiled and teased, “Maybe I was just all hot and bothered for you.”
“Still,” said Carson, ears going red. “Better safe than sorry.”
“I know,” she sighed.
“Still,” he repeated, “if your tests come back clean, maybe we can get your evening back on the right track.”
