So I've got this Lego hobby. Y'all know that. Periodically in some of the Flickr groups in which I participate, people will hold a challenge or contest of one sort or another. The purpose is to inspire people to build and foster community involvement, but there are sometimes great prizes awarded as well ( Read more... )

This is the closest thing I have to a snowpocalypse icon.

Thanks! Mine was actually the product of a single day's work, I got sledgehammered with inspiration and had to try to get the perspective to work out the way I'd visualized it. After posting several iterations on my photostream for feedback, I realized that if I kept tweaking it much more I was going to ruin it, so I called it good.

I also really like the second one, although the photography is not the best and it looks more like regular post-apoc in winter than a post-apoc ice age. That fourth one you mentioned is a very clean and tight build with good photography. It's not jaw-dropping, but it's good work and stands a chance.

Despite being somewhat simple and plain, I think the third one (with the waterfall) is probably one of the strongest competitors--if only because I know how Lego builders think, and they tend to go all googly over builds that use transparency or large-scale repetition of a single part. :)
