Rochelle is actually a fair distance north of me - about 35 or so miles - but yeah. When it's knocking close to your neck of the woods...! D:

I think that, deep down inside, my folks know I'm right - my dad has made a few comments in the past that hint at this - but at this point in their lives, they're more or less resigned to fate, especially considering our financial status (or rather, lack thereof). My dad has mentioned the possibility of eventually constructing a small storm cellar-type thing, but since it's not high priority on his list, I doubt we'll see much of that come about.

And yeah - as much as I've grown to hate, loathe and despise snow...tornadoes suck even worse (pun intended).

Stormy weather is a way of life if you live in the Midwest like I do. ;)

Hard to be awake and at the mercy of the sleeping. I feel for you.

When you're no longer in your parents home, you'll have an advantage in being concerned and prepared.

Yeah, but its not fair to the young to be so blase. I mean, I get it. They have limitations, but I can understand how frustrated you must feel. Some day I hope your fate is more in your hands.
