In which I have anger (mis)management.

So my brother has evidently gotten his tattoo. I knew he was going to do this, and debated with myself as to whether or not to tell the folks (who are against tattoos), but decided against it. For one thing, I don't need to do what my brother does and tattle to the parents every time my sibling does/says something I don't like. /snark ( Read more... )

This is resonating with me a lot, because while I've had anger issues for a long time, lately I'm angry about pretty much everything. Such as the fact that the Chicago Public Library system only allows three holds at a time, thereby punishing heavy readers and people who don't have the time and/or resources to go travailing around this huge city to pick up books. You'd think the library should be especially serving those people, but no. It is some bullshit. Also, the dryers in my apartment complex don't work, and the toilet is always overflowing. No wonder this place was so much cheaper than anything surrounding it.

But I am also angry about sexism! And the surveillance state! And Republicans!

So, uh, you're not alone. RAGE.

And *Chicago*? You'd think they of all places would be loaded with enough books that they could spare a few (dozen) to the readersYou would think! But while I can have thirty books checked out, I can only have three holds, Which makes no sense, because if the library wanted to make sure that no one could have too many books at once (which would still be stupid), why let us have so many checked out? It's extra annoying, because the branch nearest me is super tiny, so if I want to properly browse, I have to either spend bus fare or time and energy walking ( ... )

Yeah, when I first moved here a little over 6 years ago (the first time around), the library opened up oh, in 2009 or 2010, and I was so excited because YAY LIBRARY! (My town is so small - the ONLY thing we have is the gas station, which doubles as a convenience store, and they are very limited as to what they carry. In order to find anything larger, you need to drive at least 20 or more miles in any direction. For some inexplicable reason - although I think it has to do with the geography, myself - people here will not support any new business that tries to move in, and we're not even talking big-box type of businesses - these have been mom-and-pop kind of operations. About every 6 - 8 months or so, something comes along and sets up shop, and then it lasts for maybe three or four months, tops, before it vanishes. It's like, people, if you're going to promote the whole 'buy local' thing, then you've got to get your asses out there and support the local businesses that want to come out here ( ... )

Hitting things is a good way to release pent up anger. Just as long as it's not someone, or something valuable. Some people get a big ole pillow or stuffed animal to pound on when they get angry. They actually make pillows for that. It's better than nothing.

Oh yah, I've done the pillow-whacking thing. And when I break stuff (which is not too often, thankfully) I always try to find something that isn't of any particular value.
