That really sucks about your cats. Having to worry about them outside and in an unsafe environment is definitely stress-inducing. It's too bad your father doesn't like cats and can't compromise enough to let you have them inside.

I really hope you can get out of going to Texas in December. Maybe you can "suddenly come down" with a bad head cold or some other ailment that will prevent you from going.

Republicans are only pro-life for fetuses. Once the baby is born, they couldn't give a fuck about it. Hence, the cutting off of aid to families. I agree that none of the government officials should be getting a salary during the shutdown. But guess what is still open? The Congressional GymDo you have a local dump where you can take the garbage yourself? We have them around here, so you can pay for a company to come get it or you can get a permit and take it to the nearest dump when you feel like it. My garbage is included in my rent, so I just have to bag it up and put it outside the back door on Monday nights, then they come ( ... )

It's not just my dad - Boo kitty hates my Sam kitty (and the feeling is mutual), and she'll try to fight him. She has since day one when I first got her and KC. And Sam will get stressed out and pee on everything in an attempt to mark his territory. I've had to throw away two good rugs because he did that last year. :( So unfortunately, until and if I can come up with something better, Boo and KC have to have their living quarters outside in the old garage. (Not that it really matters to Boo since she just climbs out of there every time we pen her in!) (KC and Sam tolerate each other, but just barely - KC likes to roughhouse and Sam doesn't, so that could also trigger peeing behavior if Sam decides he's had enough. My little boy's getting grumpy in his elder years, heh ( ... )

That's too bad about the cats. It would be great if they all got along, then maybe you could have them all in the house.

If there are any retail stores or big box stores near you, you can probably get at least a temporary job for the holidays, which would work out nicely for an excuse to not go to Texas and also you'd be getting money. Then maybe they'd keep you on after the holidays. Try Craig's List, too. Sometimes there are jobs on there that aren't in the local papers.

Saving on gas is always a good thing. Prices have gone down a bit here, but they are still too high for my liking. :/

I've tried repeatedly but the cats just do not get along, so I see no point in forcing it because it just stresses them all out. Some of 'em are like that. *shrug* It's weird, because I've never had cats before that refused to get along - there was always the initial hissy-spitting period of "who the hell are you and what are you doing in MY turf?!" but it always settled down into friendly mutual buddiness. Boo and KC are the first cats I've had in over 20 years that don't follow the typical patterns I've seen with my pets ( ... )
