Maybe your hands hurt because you are not typing in an ergonomically-correct position? It's technically a Worker's Compensation issue since you type. It happens to transcriptionists. They file a claim, go to the doctor, and the company pays for it. They would be able to tell you if it was arthritis or not.

If it's not, then things could be relieved by changing your workstation around. But that's just my humble HR opinion :)

Yes, I've thought of that...but the thing is that getting tested for ergonomics is a part of our job, exactly for that reason. Ever since the first month, which I got a couple wrong on (because no one informed me we were being tested on this!), I've been getting a hundred percent on it...and also I pretty sure it's not carpal tunnel because I'm pretty sure I DID have carpal tunnel, and it went all the way up the arm. This is just...a terrible ache in my hand and finger joints, and I'm having trouble unxcrewing caps sometimes...ugh... :(
