Anyway, yesterday in English class.... how much of my frustration starts with that phrase?

Yesterday in English class the JTE (the other teacher that teaches with me) decides to let the class watch a movie (since they have finished the text book and are just doing reviews now). He brought "Despicable Me". I like that ( Read more... )

Even if ALTs were given more opportunities to teach and communicate with the students, I still don't think it would change things drastically. The English education system is flawed and the Japanese mindset toward English is what's hindering their progress the most. And as outsiders, we can't really change a cultural mindset- that change needs to come from within (though we can hopefully help toward the change to happen). *sigh* Oh Japan, you are going to fall behind in Asia/the world if you keep going on like this.
