ergh i don't know why i'm so angry about this tonight, because this fandom does a lot of eye-rolling things, but i made the mistake of looking at some of the reviews for that fic and... askfl;wdas.

It's ridiculous how these stupid readers worship and praise these authors who really don't need the encouragement. I wish there was like a requirement or something so not everyone could post fics. The twific fandom would at least have a ~chance at being sane, then.

EXACTLY. i've seen people try to argue that "it's fiction, and isn't it okay to fantasize?" but what they don't seem to realize is that there is a HUGE difference between rape fantasies and actual rape: namely that rape fantasies when played out are still CONSENSUAL between partners. for as ridiculous a fic as "the red line" was, it actually did the rape fantasy scenario right.

the one-shot i linked to up there by katinki is a rape fic in which bella is a sex slave, owned by edward, and he is not a good guy. no justifications. no turning it into a love story because it's edward cullen and he can do no real wrong. i couldn't get through all of it, but i really respect that it was what it was. there was nothing glamorizing about it. there was nothing redeeming about edward.

and the excuses they use are the same ones rape apologists use in real life is the real problem there, because yeah. when women defend this stuff themselves, it makes it so much easier for people to make excuses for rapists. it's like anyone who tries to say wearing provocative clothing is "just asking for it".

I FIGURED OUT WHY I'D READ THE SUMMARY FOR THAT SLAVERY STORY BEFORE. I'VE READ OTHER STORIES FROM THAT AUTHOR.

I seriously can't believe that someone that 'prominent' could get away with this. And it's not even a farce! God, I can't even. Bravo for posting this.

I keep thinking about the BDSM craze that hit fandom last year and how annoyed I was at times, but at least back then people knew the difference between play and assault, even if they didn't always understand how BDSM worked lol.

Ugh, yeah. At least with BDSM they were just dumb where as now they're just being horrible. I'm skimming through chapters currently and reporting them. First time ever lol. THIS SHIT NEEDS TO GO.

Sigh. It's not that I even want slave fics taken down per se, because it is (unfortunate though it may be) their right to post them. Apart from the graphic sex, they are sort of complying with FF's TOS. I just wish people would read them with a little more awareness and realize that stuff like that ISN'T sexy.

men in tights gifs are always appropriate. cary ewles & dave chappelle understand. and like melooza said below this, stuff like this hurts both woman who can't or didn't give consent and people who DO give consent and enjoy a BDSM lifestyle.

Things like this make me shake my head.

I get it people who have never survived abuse or rape find the idea of the responsibly of the choice taken away romantic. It is easy to imagine "there is a good person under there."

To combine a lifestyle that has the consent of both parties with a violent degrading and crippling acts is irresponsible and hurtful to those that fall in the first group.

Research never hurt anyone. Lack of it one the other hand...

Exactly. It's so easy to do. This LJ post took me literally six or so minutes to put together, four of which was spent formatting lol.
